And now that Sage Timeslips 2015 is released, you can use the internal Windows Voice Recognition for entries and control.

First idea is ant-virus. Exclude Timeslips folders and files and Timeslips database folder on all computers. You should also make sure everyone has their own prefs file and their own temp folder. The temp folder can be set in the preferences. Timeslips works best if the temp folder is on the local computer. Beyond that there are some features that can be turned off to help performance if you are not doing them. A Timeslips certified consultant should be able to assist.

I am attempting to link my Sage Clients to my Outlook Contacts. Sage allows me to link each client/project with an outlook contact. However I have some clients/projects which I wish to associate with the same outlook contact. Is this possible? It appears that Sage will not allow me to link two clients to a single outlook contact and instead wants me to create an individual contact for each client causing repetitive info in my outlook contacts database.

The left hand margin on my printed bills is 1/4 inch, although the Global Bill Layout Box says it is 0.552 inches.  Altering the margin in this box does not seem to change the printed margin - but causes some field text to squash together. Could anyone offer a suggestion please.

How current is our network and how is it's performance?  Do you have any details on the error message you mention?

Forum Post: Slip Date Filer not Working

I'm relatively new to TS in a law office.  Every time I try to limit the bills to be generated, by slip transaction date (i.e. for slips for 1 month only) I still get clients' bills showing up that are months' old and have been paid.  I also use the Professional filter which works fine.  Not every client gets billed every month; it depends upon the activity in each case for any given month.  So, I end up going through the whole list of clients and just deleting those I don't want to include in the run.  Very time-consuming.  How can I get the date filter to work?  Is there another way to limit the bills to be generated? Thanks

I don't fully understand the issue, but I suspect you need to check the options screen of generate bills. You probably have include clients with activity checked and don't want this.

Forum Post: Import Timeslips

Hi,  I am working on an online system for a client where contractors can upload and manage their timesheet information.  However, we need to be able to utilize all the TimeSlip fields (billable, actual and payable time) when we import the information. How does one supply information for these additional fields?  I've tried to pass additional time data in each record ("Brown, Jerome B.","S1020", "04:00:00", "05:00:00", "07:00:00") but the fields for billable, actual and payable time all take the first value. Additionally, when I import Timeslips into the test company in the manner suggested in the documentation I am asked (for every entry) to select an entry matching S1020.  I've tried a few permutations, S1020, S1020 Drafting, Drafting, and regardless I am asked.  I assume it's trying to do something to resolve the field (I get a similar message for the William, Elliot employee if I leave off the initial 'K'), but I'm at a loss for what I can do to help this.

Forum Post: My A/R transactions are not getting posted to the client account.

Hi, I am having an issue that I never had before.  Using Timeslips 2013.  In my A/R transactions I see the client file showing all invoices and payments and a $0.00 baklance due.  When I generate my new bill for the quarter the invoice shows the amount due for this cycle and then a total balance due which is different as it is adding the unposted balance from a previously paid invoice to the new invoice.  Further ionvestigation shows that the items previously paid are listed in the A/R Transactions, however, they are not Posting as paid.   There is nothing due, all previous invoices have been paid in full, but some have not posted as paid to the account.  Some are write offs and some are actual payments.  Can anyone tell me how do I get my system to post payments again?   Thanks.... \

Hello: We just installed Timeslips 2014 on a terminal server for a few remote users, the issue we are having is that Timeslips will not release the terminal server license? So we keep running out, is there some Hotfix for this or a automatic job I can run late at night?

We recently had to move timeslips to a new server. Since then, we have another user that has timeslips on their workstation. When the workstation is in timeslips database, the server cannot access the timeslips database and vice versa. Error is below. I have checked the server and the workstation. both install paths is pointed to T:\Timeslips\ where the .cfg file is located. I have tried to clear all licensing and relogged with same result using station administrator and swapped out the Install path to T:\Timeslips\ and verified it in the HELP/ABOUT section. Anyway for me to get both this workstation and server to log into the same database. We need this because we use Amicus that requires a exchange information sync every so often and we are having problems doing this everytime the workstation is already in the database before the server. Supposely this wasn't a problem until after the server move. Any ideas as I am completely dumbfounded and we don't have support anymore. I also noticed that the server and the workstation reports different users licenses being used. The server showed nothing while the workstation showed 3-4 before I cleared it originally. Another program is accessing your Timeslips database in a way that prevents you from accessing it. Check for these causes: 1. The file paths to each installation folder must look the same except for the drive letter.      I:\Timeslips and J:\Timeslips are the same. I:\ and J:\Timeslips are not.    If one of the stations is the server, it may be the culprit. It must use the same file path as other stations.    On each computer, check the Installation Folder in Help; About.    Use the Change Install Path command in Station Administrator on the computer that has a different file path. 2. Timeslips is installed in multiple locations. Only one installation can access a database. 3. A non-Timeslips program is using your database. 4. Run Station Administrator's Diagnose This Computer command for additional diagnostics. Area: Table Code: 126 Address: Exception tBDETableExceptionC in module Timeslip.exe at 0092E203. Version: 17.0.2.0481 Table: General Setting Record: 0 BDE Code: 11270

Forum Post: Missing Bills in TimeSlips

Is it common to have missing bills in TimeSlips? I have noticed the last few months more and more bills are disappearing from TimeSlips. Here are the steps I use to create a bill for a client. I create a pre-bill which is saved as a PDF, then I create a bill, which is sent to the client. After the bill has been printed I usually scan the printed bill to the clients folder, but if I forget to scan the bill I printed I will go to the bills section and reprint the bill, which is where I also verify if the bill has been posted to the clients account. Nine times out of ten the bill is there. The one time I noticed the bill missing, it was an error on my part which I was able to fix easily. Where I have been noticing the missing bills is when I go to post a payment to the clients account. It will show all past payments made but the unpaid bill will not show. What am I doing wrong?

I wrote off an invoice, but now I need to reverse or delete the write-off, but the "X" is not available.  Any suggestions?  I can't undo and reprint the invoice - it is too old.

Thanks again Caren2.  We have Premium Support  by Sage.  I will have to wait until Monday morning and then call my support group.  I have tried the apply one when I entered the Payments and Write Offs initially.  Hope its not a database problem.  Verification ran up to a point then shut down, and asked me to exit the program.   That did not look to promising.....Oh well, until Monday...I'll let you know what happends ... Thanks again for your suggestions

There is a bat file you can set up to run nightly and clear all licenses. You can get it from support or from a certified consultant if you work with one. I don't want to just post it because if not done correctly it could case more problems than it solves.

Timeslips 2014 releases licenses for Remote Desktop sessions (formerly known as Terminal Services) issues correctly.  Use of the batch file for this purpose is highly discouraged. The issue is that users *MUST* exit the Timeslips program before closing the RDP session, and in so doing the shutdown process will be allowed to complete and the license released.  If the users just close the session(s) without exiting Timeslips first, the license will not be released.
