This will seem like an overly simplistic answer, but I'd just take the spaces out. You only get 30 maximum characters in a nickname, so why waste one of them on a space? Also, the marking thing is not so much a Timeslips feature as a Windows feature. I was intrigued, so Googled the issue with using the space bar to select and found several articles touting this "feature" in Windows for all sorts of programs/applications. So, it appears that having that extra space where none is required may be more work than it is help. Remember, it is just the Nickname in Timeslips. I.e., the shorthand way to refer to that specific account. Unless you use it as a token on your bill, your client will never see it.
