Even Microsoft themselves recommend you install 32-bit versions of Office due to incompatibility issues. 32-bit is the default at installation, and you have to explicitly override the recommendation to install 64-bit. Office products that benefit from 64-bit versions are Excel, Project and Access if you create or use massive datasets.
