Forum Post: HOW RUN A/R SEPARATE REPORTS: A/R FOR BILLABLE HOURS VS A/R FOR EXPENSES WE PAID ON BEHALF OF CLIENT

In Quickbooks (QB), I would like to have two SEPARATE a/r accounts:  one for a/r for the attorney's billable hours and a second for a/r for outstanding expenses we've paid on behalf of client. Since I am an accountant and have self-taught how to use Timeslips, I'm not very familiar how to extract what i need.   I need to know the keystrokes on how to run a report that'll show the expenses (slips?) we billed the clients in a given month, what expenses the clients have paid within a given month, and the balance due for expenses.  Actually, all i need is the BALANCE DUE for EXPENSES only (NO billable hours).  For example, we pay XYZ $20 for an expense (appearance fee, appraisal, certified copies, deposition cost, fedex, filing fee, copying cost, etc) in Jan 2013 on behalf of client Jane Doe.  Jane Doe reimburses us for the $20 expense in Mar 2013.  I want to run a report that'll show the $20 as outstanding a/r for Jane Doe from Jan 2013 until it was paid in Mar 2013.  I would like to know how to run this report as a summary (ending balances only for each client with a balance) and also in detail. I'm assuming the Aged A/R Balances by Date will give me ALL a/r balances.  How do i run an a/r report by a specific month for just BILLABLE HOURS? I want our QuickBooks (QB) to have an ending balance in A/R-BILLABLE HOURS that easily ties to a report in Timeslips by a given date, say Jan 31, 2013 or Feb 28, 2013 or Mar 31, 2013, etc.  Then I want QB to have an ending balance in A/R-DUE FROM CLIENT FOR EXPENSES that easily ties to a report in Timeslips by a given date (just as above). Again, not being too familiar with Timeslips, could you please provide the keystrokes for each report and how to extract the data? Thanks.
