Let's face it.  Windows 8 is different.  WAY different.  It's new, it's improved, it's a whole new world.  And maybe only for those willing to engage this Brave New World. And it has a learning curve; and a steep one at that. So...  Don't consider this to be a wholesale - throw the baby out with the bath water - kind of condemnation, but a mere utterance of frustration. I'm a tech guy, a geek, a nerd.  I love innovation, but I'm getting older.  (I know, you aren't...ahem)  I don't especially fancy the learning curve with Windows 8 or 8.1.  Dagnabbit, I miss my start button actually doing something that makes sense to me!  So being the fix-what-ain't-broke kinda guy I am, I went out to do just that.  Google is my friend. Several options are out there - and some great ones at that.  My preference?  Start8 from Stardock.  Cheap at less than $5.00 and a few extra clicks and you're almost working with Windows 7 again.  But with all of the good innovations that Windows 8 provides.  The guys and gals in Redmond didn't mean to make it difficult after all. Check out this  involved article by Avra Piltch at LapTopMag.com for his very detailed instructions.  And get back to being productive! - Enjoy! - http://blog.laptopmag.com/make-windows-8-like-windows-7
