Forum Post: RE: Migrating TS 2012 to Windows Server Standard 2012 R2

You need one license for each workstation that will actually open and run Timeslips. Sounds like you don't need to purchase additional licenses just move the main installation and the database. You can either copy the complete database folder and the Timeslips program file from the workstation to the server - this folder will include the Timeslip.cfg file and the loclinst folder. You then point each workstation to the new server location by going to station administrator - options - change install path. If you have Timeslips linking with any other programs you may need to reinstall on the server. You can get the reinstall codes by opening Timeslips and going to help - about Timeslips - support information. If you use those codes you will not need an older version (if it was an update) or need to re-register. This is not difficult in practice but can be confusing if you are not experienced. The certified consultants are available to provide consulting assistance if needed.
