This sounds like the incompatibility with Windows *8* and any version of Timeslips other than 2014. Otherwise, I would be looking at the default descriptions for the particular task and make sure it doesn't have an embedded linefeed in it. Editing the description and saving the slip should change it and it should stay - unless it's Windows 8, or unless you haven't installed the latest service release for the version of Timeslips you are running.
