Before the regulars roll their eyes, please bear with me.  This is a new install of Timeslips 2014 on a Windows 8.1 machine 64bit. The install was run as administrator The program is being run with administrator privilleges Users have godlike access to the Timeslips folder/database (which is all on the local machine) Open Timeslips for the first time and click on create a new database. It takes you through all the steps and creates the database.  It allows you to select the date and just as it's about to open the Address Violation Error occurs.  We have... Deleted temp files Deleted, and let Timeslips recreate, Prefs file Reinstalled BDE Uninstalled and completely removed Timeslips before reinstalling (making sure it's in Program Files x86) Tried compatibility mode for XP, 7 and 8 Created a Prefs file which bypassed Timeslips Today and went straight to the classic navigator And probably more besides but I can't remember right now.  It has got to be a conflict between Timeslips and Windows 8.1... but what?!
