We've been using Timeslips for 10+ years and just installed Amicus Attorney. In Timeslips, we have each client with a unique nickname and then each client has at least one, but some up to 30, separate matters. When we generate bills for clients they receive one invoice with all billable time allocated per matter and one final amount due on the bottom. We installed Amicus Attorney Premium 2014 and upgraded to Timeslips 2014 at the same time. We had Gavel and Gown link the programs. We now have 1 separate Amicus File Matter for every Timeslips Client linked via the nickname1 field. When we post time to that Amicus File Matter the time entry shows up in Timeslips immediately under that Client, but with an unassigned matter. Gavel and Gown tells us that since the nickname field is the link between the two programs, we can not have separate Amicus File Matters linking with individual Timeslips Matters (only Timeslips Clients). Has anyone developed a work-around for this issue? Gavel and Gown suggested that in cases where 1 client has 30 matters we simply create 30 Amicus Files and let that link to 30 separate Timeslips clients (not matters) but this would result in our clients with 30 matters receiving 30 invoices (not to mention 29 of those clients would be brand new in Timeslips so we would lose all of our prior payment history and retainer balances and have to transfer that information over).
