Russ: Your post piqued my interest. This is the second post I've seen recently about this. (The other was on the Technolawyer Listserve.) So, I spoke to the Iowa Public Defender's office this afternoon, and got a sample of the Excel spreadsheet that they want. It is not 'just' an export of your bill. They want certain fields in certain positions in the file with a very specific header. I have designed a prototype report for Timeslips that is very close, but not quite exactly what they want. You will need to tweak it just a bit after the export, but it should cut down on your time to produce this considerably. I am also lobbying to get them to alter a couple of columns in the spreadsheet to make it a straight shot deal. We export to Excel, they import, no editing necessary. However I have no idea if they will accomodate the change. Feel free to contact me directly if you are interested.
