It's controlled by the history bill layout that is assigned to the matter. You can modify the history bill layout just like you do a bill layout. You assign the layout on the layout tab of the matter.

Each invoice is numbered with client code and invoice number. So Acme client is assigned a client number of 101. Acme's tenth invoice will be numbered 101-10 and the next one will be 101-11, etc....
