Forum Post: Large discrepancy in Collections reports

Hi, I ran two reports using the same date range: Collections by Client (based on Payment Register report) and Collections by Timekeeper (based on timekeeper Collections report).  There was a very large discrepancy in the totals and I'm trying to figure out why.  Were these the correct reports to use?  If so, shouldn't the totals be the same since the date ranges were the same? Thanks in advance for any help!

I am trying to run a report- under slips, weekly totals by period.  I have the report sorted to breakdown the slips monthly but the numbers in the columns are on top of each other.  How do I resize the columns so that all of my numbers are legible?  I have timeslips 2012.  Thank you!

I'm an admin for a law office and we use Timeslips 2008 for our billing.  Only yesterday, when I went to edit a slip, I received the following error: "Directory in use by earlier version of Paradox.(13314) Area: Database Code: 4 Address: Exception tBDEDatabaseExceptionC in module Timeslip.exe at 008F6254. Version: 16.0.0.0231" How do I resolve this?  I am not able to do anything with the program without this popping and cannot pull up bills, slips, etc., at all.  I have tried restarting the program and restarting the computer to no avail.  Additionally, when I try to exit Timeslips, it doesn't exit.  It just stays open, will NOT close the window, and I have to use the Task Manager to close it. Unfortunately, I am not terribly computer-savvy, and am leery of altering things on a programming level.  If someone can help me out, they would have to tell me step-by-step what to do, what folders to go into (and where to find them), and what to delete and what NOT to delete.  I am on a Windows 8 computer. Please help!!!

I find that training sessions of thirty minutes to two hours make the best sense depending on the topics the firm needs to be trained on.  Unfortunately, training is often the overlooked component to a successful software implementation.  You are welcome to contact me via phone/email to discuss your needs.

There really is no graceful way to accomplish this as it is a canned report.  Options that may work for you include changing the period to quarterly or printing 6 months at a time if you really need the monthly view.  In some cases my clients have had success printing the report to RTF and editing in Word.

Also forgot to mention to try printing the report in landscape mode.

As a general rule, it means that the Borland Database Engine (BDE) that Timeslips runs on is trying to establish a lock on a record in the database, and it does not receive a confirmation of that attempt fast enough (it times out). It is often an indication that something with the network is too slow, but not specific enough about WHAT is the problem. So you can chase this one for a while. Hope this helps.   If you think this suggestion was especially helpful, please consider rating it within the five star option, or clicking the green Yes button next to the "Did this answer your question?" option below.  Thanks. Thanks Nancy. Our network does tend to bottleneck in the AM. I take it I should just monitor and see if the problem persists?

I did read those posts, and they may be helpful.  However, I am very new to Timeslips and very leery of trying something like deleting something which may be important without a step-by-step process, especially if there is anything specific to my version of Timeslips.

Also, what would cause this?  It was working fine the day before and I don't think I changed anything besides adding a few slips.  It was even working fine for most of the day before the issue occurred.

First you should upgrade. Timeslips 2008 is old and is not supported on windows 7 or windows 8. Putting that aside l, if you are that uncomfortable then you should get a consultant to help you. It should be a fairly simple fix just finding and deleting the pdoxusrs files, but sometimes there are complications depending on the environment. Since we don't know your paths and setup we really can't give step by step

Does 2015 work with TSRemote?  Can I upgrade with the download received by email?

No.....Sage no longer sells or supports TSRemote.  Take a look at the Sage Timeslips eCenter subscription option in order to enter time and expense records on the web and download same to your on premise Timeslips 2015 for billing.
