Forum Post: RE: Firm split - how to separate database
If I understand you have two options: 1. Keep the current database and then make a second database that is a complete copy. Change the firm name. Next I would close and purge all clients that you are...
View ArticleForum Post: RE: Firm split - how to separate database
Not quite. You should only need 2 databases. Database 1 = Old Firm (OF) database, contains A/R as of February 10th and no remaining WIP. All billed out as of February 10th. At this point all you need...
View ArticleForum Post: RE: Firm split - how to separate database
Hi Nancy, Yes, income for work up until February 10 will be split between the partners of the old firm, so that database needs to be kept separately. For Database 2, the problem is that they want...
View ArticleForum Post: RE: Firm split - how to separate database
No, just no. Tell them I said no. The previous balances from Database 1 do not belong to the new firm and should not appear as A/R balances in Database 2. Trying to have a third database is just a...

Thank you, Nancy. I agree, but unfortunately I haven't been able to convince them. It may be that I just keep two databases and track what they want separately in an Excel spreadsheet. As long as they...

I use Timeslips 2017 which is very slow. I was told a few months ago when I was having that problem to run a Data Verification to check for errors. I have done this a few times with no errors. Today it...

Hello Nquaterman, Can you elaborate on the outage you experienced? Time? Error message? Are you able to login now? Thank you,

Do not rebuild the balances. Only rebuild a balance if you know it is bad. Where specifically is the program slow? Have you excluded Timeslips on the server and workstations from active anti-virus...
View ArticleForum Post: RE: Data Verification
It is slow all over, from clicking on an icon & waiting for it to pull up, and especially when entering a new time or expense slip, to the point where I have to wait for it to move from field to...

How many slips in the database? You can find this in help > About Timeslips > Support informaiton. How much memory on the computer? How much memory on the server? What else is running on your...
View ArticleForum Post: RE: Data Verification
There are a total of 277,258 slips (122,668 open, 438 closed, 154,152 inactive). (I don't understand why there are 438 slips closed but 320 closed clients.) I am the only one using Timeslips, and my...

That is a lot of slips. I really want to know about RAM not free space.
View ArticleForum Post: RE: Data Verification
That should be sufficient. Purging slips may help. Is the database actually on your computer or is it on the server? That can make a difference depending on the speed of your connection to the server.

I'm not really sure...I do know it's on a network database. Sorry, I don't know much about the computer part of it...not too sure I want to know either (ha)
View ArticleForum Post: RE: Data Verification
One final question, do you know if you are connected to the server via an ethernet cable or wireless? Beyond that would probably need to take a look to give advice other than purging.
View ArticleForum Post: RE: Data Verification
I think it is probably an Ethernet cable, but can't say for sure. When I had 2013, our outside IT guy downloaded 2016 (first time he downloaded Timeslips) and it was running slow, but we thought it was...

That is important to know. It would also help to know if the database is on your computer or on the server. Maybe you can ask the IT person.
View ArticleForum Post: RE: Data Verification
Ok, will do. Thanks for your help, patience & time today!
View ArticleForum Post: RE: Data Verification
Please ask your IT person to make sure that both Timeslips and the firebird service are excluded from anti-virus scan. That has fixed speed issues for many firms.
